BUSINESS ANALYSTS  

Job Description: 

Business Analysts formulate solutions to complex business problems related to information management/information science. They are responsible for developing logical data models, developing metadata schemas and mapping organizational business flows and processes. They identify, analyze and define the “as is” vs. the “to be” state by assessing organizations from an information-centric perspective. Business Analysts report to the Chief Operating Officer (COO).

 

Responsibilities: 

  • Communicate and collaborate with external/internal clients to analyze information needs and functional requirements
  • Assess project requirements using various feedback techniques, including interviews, document analyses, requirements workshops, surveys, site visits, business process descriptions and use cases
  • Critically evaluate information, reconcile conflicts, decompose high-level information into details, abstract up from low-level information to a general understanding, and distinguish user requests from organizational needs
  • Liaison between internal/external customers, technology  teams, business units and support teams
  • Collaborate with developers and subject-matter experts to develop technical vision and analyze tradeoffs between usability and performance needs
  • Develop requirement specifications according to standard templates

 

Requirements and Skills: 

  • Experience in using enterprise-wide requirement definition and management systems and required methodologies
  • Ability to work independently with users to define concepts under the direction of project managers
  • Strong analytical and project-management skills, including a thorough understanding of how to interpret customer business needs and translate them into application and operational requirements
  • Ability to understand and apply the appropriate technologies to enhance and support knowledge-sharing products and deliverables
  • Strong communication, critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to interact professionally with a diverse group of executives, managers, and subject-matter experts

 

DEVELOPERS

Job Description:  

Developers are responsible for reviewing current systems and presenting ideas for system improvements. They work closely with analysts and other Cogniva staff, producing detailed specifications and writing programming code, primarily in support of ISIS products. They also perform product tests and assist in the preparation of training materials for users. Developers report to the Chief Technology Officer (CTO).

 

 Responsibilities:  

  • Participate in the design and development of software components
  • Develop and re-factor code for performance, security and maintenance
  • Develop Web and desktop user interfaces
  • Design and implement unit tests for software components
  • Provide assistance with documentation and customer support
  • Participate in research and development projects as required

  

Requirements and Skills:  

  • University or college degree in computer science or related discipline
  • Experience in .Net application design
  • Proficiency in C# development
  • Strong communication skills

 

 Assets:  

  • Experience developing for Microsoft Office and/or SharePoint 2007/2010
  • Experience with Windows Communication Foundation and Windows Presentation Foundation
  • Experience with Records and Document Management Systems (MS SharePoint, OpenText Content Server or eDocs, EMC Documentum)
  • Understanding of unit-testing
  • Windows networking knowledge
  • Experience with database design and programming in ASP.Net
  • Familiarity with version control systems
  • Good understanding of XML, XSL and Web services
  • Bilingual (French-English)
